LO2 - Conventions of an Ident (P2)

An ident is useful because it delivers audible information and announces the upcoming programmes. One of the primary conventions, in my opinion, while looking at an ident, is to display the channel name. This is necessary since the channel's identity must be clearly displayed in the ident.  The music playing in the background is one way it can be demonstrated. This makes it easier for viewers to tell what station it is. They display the channel's logo when viewing earlier idents. Another fundamental ident convention is this. It helps viewers grasp what the channel is portraying and what will happen next, which is why it is useful. The usage of the present and future is another fundamental ident norm. The times between the programmes when idents are broadcast are usually when there is a break. This allows the audience to leave and come back with a better idea of what will be shown next. This is referred to as an ident bumper. The audience may benefit from idents to hint at what will happen next on the channel. This enables the audience to anticipate what will be shown next because the ident teases the solution before presenting it. With reference to BBC Two, I can report that the ident always prominently displays the channel's emblem and informs viewers via spoken audio of what will happen next on the channel. We can see that all of the other idents are animated, and some of them may even have music and actors in them, when we compare the channel to those on other stations. The BBC Two channel features a variety of shows, as can be seen when we take a look at it. As a result, the BBC Two ident must appeal to a more serious audience in order to reach the intended viewers for the relevant episodes.
